American Youth Soccer Organization Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

AYSO Region 148 South Oxnard - Port Hueneme

AYSO is a volunteer-based organization. All Coaches, Referees and Board members are unpaid volunteers who give their time to make AYSO a success for children! Each year AYSO Region 148 needs to fill referee positions in the 10U through 19U divisions. We can only do that when parents and family members step up to make the program work.

10U-19U Points Guidelines

  • Each team is expected to provide (2) certified volunteer referees. AYSO region 148 will provide all necessary training to certify a referee.
  • 2 referee points will be earned for providing an Assistant Referee on 10U thru 19U games
  • 3 referee points will be earned for providing a Center Referee on 10U thru 19U games
  • All team referees combined may earn a maximum of five (5) referee points a week for any single team
  • Referees who represent multiple teams - can earn points for more than one team - but no single team will receive more than 5 points on any weekend.
  • Must earn 23 referee points during weeks 1 through 8 to advance to the playoff round
  • A team that reaches the playoffs must earn a minimum of four (4) points in EACH of weeks 9 & 10 in order to participate in Championship Saturday
  • A team that plays on Championship Saturday must earn a minimum of four (4) points on Championship Saturday in order to be eligible to receive an invite to Area W Championship Playoff
  • A team CANNOT receive "unused" referee points from other teams or referees
  • Points must be earned in the 10U-19U divisions.
  • Games refereed in the 6U or 8U divisions will not earn credit for 10U- 19U teams.

* There may be occasional opportunities for a bonus point(s) which allows the team/team referee to earn more than 5 points on a day. Even if a referee is representing more than one team - the points earned for a single game may only be credited to a single team. Youth referees may earn a maximum of 5 points a week - though they may referee more games if they desire. If you feel there is an error or discrepancy in your referee points for weeks 1- 8 you must contact your Referee Administrator within one week of the game played. Points earned for games will be entered by each Sunday by 5:00PM; any error or discrepancies must be reported by 11:00AM of that Sunday.

To earn points - all Referees must:

  • Be an approved volunteer form
  • Have an approved Sterling background check
  • Complete the Live Scan process
  • Have completed ALL safety training - SafeSport, Safe Haven, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion Awareness
  • Be appropriately certified to the level they are refereeing
    • 10U - Regional Referee or higher
    • 12U - Regional Referee or higher
    • 14U - Intermediate Referee or higher
    • 16U - Advanced Referee or higher
    • 19U - Advanced Referee or higher
  • Create and have an approved Stack Officials account

GAME DAY REQUIREMENTS

  • Sign up for your games on Stack Officials by Friday night.
  • Be at the field and arrive at least 20 minutes in advance of their game in full and appropriate uniform ready to referee their respective game. With your issued Shorts, Shirt (tucked in) and socks - pulled up. Please look the part.
  • Sign in on the printed schedule at the tent so we know you have arrived, and we have a referee for the game.
  • Turn in completed game cards - printing name and team for which you are contributing points (Example: B10U-07)
  • Complete the game and have fun! Because refereeing is fun and the best seat in the house!

IMPORTANT: You don’t need to referee games in the same division as your child if you don’t have the proper certification. Example - your child plays 14U (requires an “Intermediate Referee or higher” certification) but you have a “Regional” certification (good for 10U & 12U). You can still earn points by officiating a 10U or 12U game. We will attempt to cover all games with referees with the appropriate certification FIRST. HOWEVER, we allow experienced/confident referees to referee games above their certification level - because we need to have the coverage!

Board Members, Coaches and Team Administrators may only contribute their Referee Points to Teams on which they have a child or *close relative playing.

*Close Relative = Brother, sister, cousin, niece, nephew.

What if I cannot make it for a scheduled Referee assignment?

We understand that “things happen”. We do ask you to try and contact the Regional Referee Administrator as soon as possible. Please note that our chances of finding a referee at the last minute are slim, so if you cannot show up at the last you will likely not be replaced. Also note: The referee administrator reserves the right to issue negative points in cases where the system is clearly being abused.

The Region 148 Board and/or the Regional Commissioner has the final authority to choose a team to represent the Region in any post season tournament in the event of any mitigating circumstances, such as behavior issues with team referees, coaches and/or participants on the sideline.
